every night I relive
all the horrors
of past battles
no peace for me
fury haunted

treaties signed
reconstruction deals made
left alone with PTSD

my life layered
with atrocity visions

kids playing hopscotch
in the driveway
landmine ignites
feet bursting

blood and brain pieces
on the bed sheet
shot through the neck
at the evening prayer

the will to survive
only fuelled by the vision
of getting back my love
but now it turns out
beholding her unsoiled body
I recall a barrel raping

while we are rolling in money,
they are dying in a
hail of bullets

this tacitly accepted business model
is claiming constantly new conflicts,
new targets

so one scene will remain
the recurring charade
both laughable and sad
when leaders declare war
while being
